Bridget Quinn has spent all of her life in St. Joseph's Orphan Home in Tucson, having been given away at birth. On her eighteenth birthday, she receives a letter from her mother, who was a madam, working in Tombstone. This letter not only discloses the name of her father, but it contains five hundred dollars—a fortune, for an orphan...

Having always wanted to know her family, Bridget devises a plan to find her father, fleeing the orphanage with her trusted sidekick, a boy named Sawyer Brown. This audacious blonde is determined to work as a saloon girl, hoping to hear useful information about your father. On her first night on the job, a shootout occurs, and she finds herself in the arms of a mysterious stranger, who just might be the answer she is looking for.

This is the first book in the Arizona Brides Series, which follows the lives of four plucky young ladies, who find themselves on wild and crazy adventures in the Arizona Territory.

Bridget is an orphan who just turned 18. She leaves the orphanage with her young friend, Sawyer, when she received a letter from her dying mother, a prostitute, and $500. Her mother informs Bridget of who her father is. It turns out that her father is an outlaw. Bridget decides to work at a saloon to discover her father's whereabouts. In the process, she meets Jesse and the romance begins. This story is short, so they fall in love quickly. However, some things Jesse does makes it hard for Bridget to fully trust him. The story line was interesting, but not to my taste. Most of the story is around a saloon, during a robbery, in an outlaw's hideout, hiding from the law...basically not around upstanding society. It gives a feeling of darkness. Even the orphanage, run by supposedly Godly people, is rather dark, where an 18-year-old can be forced to attend a girls' academy against her will at the age of 18. I'm not even sure that is historically correct. It seems that a government or church-funded institution would not have funds to support orphans who have reached the age of majority. The heroine has a love and compassion for saloon girls and outlaws, but fears lawmen (mostly for her father's sake) and she doesn't like church. That's just not hero/heroine material for me. I gave the story 3 stars because it was interesting, but it's definitely not something I'd ever want to read again.

An Audacious Spitfire The Arizona Brides Series Book 1 edition by Carré White Romance eBooks Reviews

Very Good plot, unexpected. The story line took twists and turns that you wouldn't have thought. It was well developed.
A western romance that stars a much spunkier than usual female heroine. It was fun to read, I hung on to see what would happen next.
Bridgett is a very brave young lady, having acquired a brother, by choice, at the orphanage they were in. She turns 18 and tackles the world to find her father. A great adventure.
Good book
This is another 1800's bride ebook in the series by Carre White. I love how Ms. White writes and can't wait to read her next book. This book was a very easy read for me even though I have had a stroke and read very slowly, trying to comprehend what is written. Ms. White does not use useless verbage in her books and that's why I like reading them. She gets straight to the point without descriptions that go on and on forever. Her books are not usually sexually graphic. They always tell of the wedding night (there is always a wedding night!) but they leave enough for the imagination to make the book interesting. Definitely NOT Fifty Shades of Grey! I highly recommend this book for anyone who likes books about 1800's brides.
I did not like this book, however, I have bought all the one before and I just love them this one I just could not get it going the beginning, the middle and towered the end, I just could not.
I really enjoyed this book, I like the fact that she was in an orphanage, but escaped to find her father. Eventhough she took some crazy risk, but I applaud her determination to stay with her choices no matter what the consequences may be. I am looking forward to the rest of the series, because if they are as entertaining as book one then then will be worth reading.
